It's BECAUSE of the transplants. The mix of transplants, natives, immigrants, transients. It's all of the DC metro area, equally terrible. Case closed.
For alcohol laws, Maryland is ridiculous.
Maryland's flag sucks.
Can't easily park in close-in MD. Parking garage for target? No thank you. But then VA is full of parking lots, driving driving everywhere.
And Bethesda is the hands off winner for awful people that are oblivious to others sharing their space. Not all Bethesdans (I'm one) but you know who they are. (They don't)
I agree, it's non-natives who are by far the problem drivers.
But MD flag sucking? What are you talking about? MD flag is cool as F.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Driving? If that's the predominate complaint I'm pleasantly surprised. I've lived in NoVa and MoCo. Prefer MoCo but commute is King.
that appears to be the case. They don't like MD because of bad drivers. If that's the only thing, I'd say people are being nitpicky. But whatever floats your boat.

I was so elated when I visited Maryland recently, a very packed shopping center around Silver Spring, and the drivers were all so courteous and aware using waving hand signals so we all knew who was going vs. stopping. Hell no, not in VA! If you turn in a VA parking lot, you better be on red alert and pray for best and have good insurance.
And the slow drivers in VA. Holy crap. I get it, you aren't in a hurry. But do you possess a rear view mirror? If you have all day to get somewhere and want to drag as-, and you clearly see I at least wish to drive the speed limit at a minimum and I am tailing you, just get out of the lane or pull over and meditate and relax or whatever you do so I can move on. I do this myself all the time. If someone is in a hurry behind me and riding me, I let them pass, even if it means pulling over a sec. Why don't VA drivers let people pass? Why?
I find it's overwhelmingly white people drivers in Virginia that are terrible. They are most likely transplants.

How about the other way around?
Any state that has enough idiots to elect the liar criminal Youngkin no thanks. In 2024 people in VA will be dying to move to MD. From school choice to no job growth VA is over. Youngkin won't leave til he burns VA to the ground.
I will stick with MD> All VA properties sold.

Yes! Worst drivers in the US bar none.
According to the insurance institute:

VA #9
MD - not on the list
But sure, don't let statistics and facts get in your way. Your anecdote is so much more accurate.

eh.. we've learned that not all "scientists" are smart, and many are prone to bias.
But it's science! Do not question us because we know everything. Our study proves it:

You do realize that MD is tiny compared to VA, right? Space is more limited in MD.
I'm from SoCal. We didn't have large parking garages when I was growing up. Just gigantic parking lots because CA land mass is large.
Who cares that thereās parking garages for targets lol? MD is better than VA for the record š

You lost me on the no job growth. Alas N. VA has obliterated MoCo for so long in this regard I bet some MoCo residents are ready for a second bridge (to get to their jobs in the Dulles corridor faster)
It pains me to say it but Md is looking kind of smart now with work from home. Va has ruined its landscape with empty (ugly) albatross buildings.
dp.. I'm originally from CA, moved from Bay Area.
I've posted on here many times that unfettered growth is not good. I saw it happen in the Bay Area and left before it got really out of hand. Tysons reminds me of CA's concrete jungle (I also lived in LA for many years). I hate it.

Never before have I ever seen so many a***oles on the road in a single region. It's truly shocking how big of an a**le people are around here when they get into a car.
Massachusetts is infamous for a**hole drivers (hence the term āM*ssholeā), but thereās a certain of order to their madness. They donāt squat in the left lane. They use their turn signal. They donāt have a bunch of phony paper āghostā plates and drive like lunatics who stole a car.
Iām pretty certain that a lot of the more reckless MD drivers are legit criminals in stolen cars. Look at the correlation between paper plates and just wantonly reckless driving in Maryland. Itās 1:1.
What are ghost plates? I thought those were plates for people who just got a new car and have no idea how to drive it.
