Look, kids are already talking. If kids already know about a party, and whether or not they were invited, and several days later an invite arrives, it is known. If you're pulling B list shenanigans then just be honest about it instead of pretending people can't figure it out.
Kids talk about it after the party. It’s usually parents talking about it before. I guess it depends on age. My point is reduce the awkwardness when I send out the B list. Besides that, it no one’s business who I invite.
You don't have kids apparently. Or they are 3 years old and you have no idea what you're talking about. You're not reducing anything, you're just being weird hiding a list and having "B" lists to begin with.

Subject: Hide birthday party guest list or not?
I show the guest list when it’s not a whole class party - specifically so that other moms don’t assume it’s whole class and ask to car pool with people who aren’t invited and inadvertently cause me drama.
