Subject: What percent of your block/neighborhood goes to private?
What are all these private school spots? My kid is in a DC private (one of the so-called Big3) and there are only 580 or so spots. Where are these thousands and thousands of spots?

Most likely this is completely made up and the poster is having a bit of fun.
Regardless it’s worthless as it doesn’t differentiate age/grade. Elementary will always have more in public as elementary schools often okay (you get aged kids easier to handle) and many parents can only afford to pay for MS and/or HS.
Depends on the area, I think. Some places, the kids go to private for a solid foundation, then back into public, when there's a default more serious stream. Lots of e.g. Catholic K-8s in Northern Virginia, and few Catholic high schools. Closer in schools seem to have a lot more kids starting in public elementary, then leaving when issues start stacking up.

This. On my block in nottingham district, I count 9 in private and 7 in public.
