Abuse can stop you from maturing. It can cause you to think you're going crazy and act crazy (like her very public breakdown). It can mess you up in so many ways. Sure, she may also have mental health issues but you can't diagnose over the internet. And it's very possible that she doesn't....it's just the abuse.
Also, most celebrities have a PR team that curates their social media. So comparing her posts to there posts isn't a true comparison.
I wish people would leave her alone, let her grow and become the person she was meant to be.

Those diagnosing her mental illnesses should also understand that she was treated by doctors against her will--given drugs and even an IUD without her consent. Her family, friends, lawyers, and doctors all failed her for years.
I think it's amazing that she's still finding joy in dancing.
Doing crazy things because of abuse *IS* mental illness. It's not one or the other. She isn't acting like a stable adult and the public can easily see that. We can't diagnose the specific issue or cause from our couches, but it's possible to conclude that something is off. She's not mentally healthy.
This was always evident. Anyone who supported free britney expecting her to be a totally normal person afterwards was being unrealistic.
But her being mentally ill doesn't mean that getting her out of that situation was wrong. She is mentally ill, she made a mint of money in her teens, and her family took advantage of her to profit off of her work, all of those things can be true at the same time. I think people are having some kind of collective guilt concern like, if something bad now happens to her, then freeing her was not the 'right' choice and we will bear the weight of whatever that is. That her family WAS 'protecting' her.
But the reality is that the type of arrangement she was under is extraordinarily uncommon for an adult who is capable of being basically functional. They were definitely taking advantage of her and mistreating her. And regardless of what happens next, she should be free to spend her money and live her life the way she wants, even if that is in a way that ends in a dumpster fire. But I would bet it is more likely that she just posts crazy stuff on instagram for the next 20 years.
I haven't seen anyone arguing on this thread that the conservatorship should go back in place as it was or that it shouldn't have been lifted.
Unfortunately, celebs with lots of money with this level of mental instability don't typically live long. That's likely what will happen next. Car accident. Drug overdose. Something more bizarre. Whatever, but it's not a recipe for a long life. I strongly suspect she's only alive now because of the conservatorship--that doesn't mean it was right or fair but it did stabilize her. Now all we can do is cross our fingers and hope she stabilizes. It's up to her.
It kept her instability hidden from the public. That is not the same thing as stabilizing[/quo
+1 Her latest "Christmas" video is disturbing to watch. Her facial expression is hauntingly sad.

Everyone thought getting her free would help. But really now she’s just free to be a mess on Instagram.
Yeah, I think this arrested development theory about sums it up. She has the freedom of an adult, the money of a celebrity, but the maturity of a rebellious teen.
and married to a super creepy guy.

She clearly has serious mental health issues, and it appears nobody around her who has a genuine interest in really helping her. I know some people thing her husband truly loves her, but I think he is just using her to try to build a name for himself, I especially felt that after the NYT article.
Maybe he loves her but he also doesn't seem to be the brightest. A highly intelligent and moral partner would have been amazing for her.
But that person wouldn't be a partner, they would be a caretaker. A highly intelligent person cannot have a partnership with someone like her. Also to the people saying "leave her alone". No one here is bothering her. This is the digital version of sitting on the porch talking.
I don't think a highly intelligent person would WANT to be her partner. In my experience, smart people are attracted to other smart people, and nobody would conclude Britney is smart. Unless they're stupid.

How do these posts prove she is mentally ill? It’s not unusual for celebrities to post sexy and revealing pics of themselves.

I don’t know anyone who would assert that Madonna is well either fwiw. She’s just not quite as messy as Britney.
