Hunting is a thing, which I get, but everybody else I don't understand. A lot of people buy guns for protecting their home and family. I don't really get that. If I felt that unsafe, I would move.
Anyway, we need strict gun laws, licenses, background checks...etc. Getting rid of military style assault weapons would also be a step in the right direction.
It seems like those of us who don’t want to be shot by a deranged moron have to move our bargaining anchor.
I no longer care about your need to hunt, etc. No guns, anywhere, for anyone. Can you imagine if our police were like the ones in the UK and DIDN’T walk around with guns? It would be like a totally different country. That’s my aim.
The Everly Brothers had a song called “Dream, Dream, Dream.” That’s about where you are. The idea that firearms are only for hunting is silly. There are millions of defensive uses of firearms a year. And by the way, the British have armed police. They are more than willing to use their guns too, as when they shot a man in the back of the head while holding him face down on the floor of a bus.
Nope, it’s not a dream, it’s a goal. I don’t care about your desire for guns for hunting, but I care even LESS about this BS about “defensive” use of firearms.
Keep going, there are more and more people coming to my position every day. The children who had to do gun drills in school don’t want guns anywhere near them. The future does not belong to mindless death and stupidity. The future is ours.
Unreasoning fear of inanimate objects and fanciful notions that getting rid of them can magically change the human heart are symptoms of a profound mental disorder.

Can someone then explain to me like I’m a fifth grader, how more gun laws would have prevented this senseless tragedy?

Sad, but this sums it up. We have gun crisis and a mental health crisis.
We can and should bring back mental institutions.
There is obviously a huge need for them.
Even if we had institutions, very few of these shooters would end up in them BEFORE they decided to shoot people. Severely mentally I’ll people are mostly NOT violent.

What makes YOU so triggered / motivated?
Do you think there’s only one poster other than you in all of DCUM? What are you, some special kind of simpleton?
More of your childish insults, I see.
Are you just sock-puppeting? (probably).
But whatevs.
You do you, Crazy gun control lady.
Whatever, gun nutter.
Agree to disagree, crazy gun control lady.
DP. I am not the OP but I think I hurt your feelings on one of the other gun threads. Please don’t take out your frustration on other people just because you can’t come up with relevant responses.
