Meh.
All things being equal, I would agree, as in if there were two candidates who were equally good on policy and competence, then I would choose the woman or POC candidate.
But Jamie Raskin - if he wanted it - is unrivaled. He's awesome. He's kind, he's smart, he has excellent constituent services, his politics align with mine and with most of his constituents, and he's good at balancing the far left with the center. He shouldn't be counted out just because he's white (or Jewish).
In fact, most POC I know are rather irritated with the assumption that they should just check race boxes for representation and leave it at that. If a POC is the better candidate, they'll vote for them. They don't need to be reserved a seat because of their race.
This is insane, condescending and pretty racist.
Raskin neither needs to step aside nor is he a saint. He could never win a competitive primary in the state of Maryland for a statewide race because his politics don’t match the state. He would probably lose to about half of the states Congressional delegation and he would also lose to a few County Execs.

Like Hogan before him.

I am a staunch East Coast liberal elite democrat and I have always voted for Hogan for Governor for Maryland because I like the balance he brought to the table, and kept the ultra-leftists in MoCo in check.
I voted for the Democratic ticket very reluctantly this time because basically the democratic party fielded absolutely C grade candidates. They won only because there was no one of Hogan's caliber from GOP who could be the GOP candidate. The bar was sooooooo low for GOP, but then they are always able to field psychopaths like Trump and go lower. So there is that.
Hogan like a true patriot had warned against the GOP candidate for MD governor and frankly, I trust Hogan. If Hogan runs for President, he will get a lot of votes from Marylander Democrats and he very certainly will get votes from middle of road Republicans. Not every person in the country subscribes to the crazy of MAGA.
Said no true Democrat about themselves ever!![]()

Still, I would hold my nose and vote Raskin.
