I mean, I’m really not. Quite a feminist. But what I hear about tech and pharma sales is that it’s good looking guys and gals and they make tons of money shmoozing. I have two girls myself, but would want a more intellectual career for them, and they have certain passions. Actually one would love makeup or stylist. I’m fine with that if she can make it pay.

This is true - and it’s true in real estate too. Sales is somewhat about people and relationships, so how someone looks and presents themselves matters. I’m sorry if you don’t like that PP (the one who called the above poster disgusting), but no need to shoot the messenger.

OP- Does your daughter have any passions? Does the love dogs? Horses? Children? Does she have an eye for design? Does she like making money? Is her failing related to stubbornness? Depression? Dyslexia? Social issues?

I mean, I know of a few not-college alternatives as well as community college affiliated programs for a kid in a certain performing art

But those would be useless to you if we don't know what she IS interested in

OP, I would suggest that your daughter consider community college and some of the workforce development programs that they have. For example, Montgomery College has a variety of programs in business, information technology, health career fields, education, public safety, etc.

Yes OP this is the answer.

In the mean time make sure your kid has a part time job.

If daughter can attend college courses, just go to a real college. Major in something easy like communications, women's studies, photography, basket weaving.

why pay full price, though, for the core classes? start at community college then transfer. Less money wasted if the kid just isn't ready
