So you are one of the problems. The speed limits are there for a reason. Locals like the light at River Bend and would like a light at Leigh Mill and Swinks Mill - if it can be done considering the hill and any curve.

A bridge from western MoCo to Loudoun is not going to help the massive MD to VA commuter volume to Tysons, ARL, and even downtown DC that flows over the Am Leg Bridge.

I'm not a problem at all, seeing as I've never had an accident, nor a ticket on G'Town Pike. I drive at a safe speed, dictated by traffic and road conditions. There are parts of the road that are posted 35 mph that should be higher. The cops don't even drive 35 mph in those stretches.

I would like to see you speed limit absolutists for one day. I'm pretty sure you don't follow your own rules.

DP. I’m not a “speed absolutist” but I generally try to stay close to the speed limit - certainly not below it, but not much above it either. One thing is for sure - I’m not about to let some arrogant tailgating a$$hole intimidate me into speeding so that he can get where he’s going faster. If anything, tailgating will have the opposite effect. Pretty astounding to read the posts stating that you drive the speed YOU deem appropriate. I’d love for you to tell a cop that when you’re inevitably pulled over.

There is a posted speed limit and there’s an actual speed limit. I drive above the posted speed limit, by about 10 mph, if I deem it safe to do so. And even if I do that, there are people tailgating me. I have never gotten a ticket on G’Town Pike and I’m probably one of the safest drivers on that road.

Now, unless you drive 55 mph on the Capitol Beltway, and keep every jot and tittle of every traffic code wherever you go, I don’t think you’re in any position to lecture me about safe driving. I’ll put my record up against yours any day.
