Because I'm frequently in Home Depot wearing clothes with dander from snuggling with my dogs at home, so how is that any different? Are people having deadly allergy attacks from passing pet owners in public?

People can have anaphylactic reactions to dog dander. Just like peanuts. I’m not one of them thankfully- my son does anaphylaxis to dogs but only if they lick him (one of the reasons I abhor off leash dogs running around). He wouldn’t react to just walking past a dog. But I know people that will start itching and coughing if they’re in a house where a dog is. I’m like this in cat houses.

I'm the PP, and like you, I'm super sensitive to cats in houses, to the point where when we were looking to buy, spending more than a short time in a house that had cats would start symptoms that lasted for days. But that's in a home with cats or if I were to touch a cat.

No one should be subjected to unwanted encounters with dogs, whether touching, licking, or even brushing up against. But I find it hard to believe that people have allergies triggered by the 70-year-old woman shopping in Home Goods with a Chihuahua in her cart. I've researched this and have read over and over again that serious dog allergies are rare.
