Come on, the site will be redeveloped if the two charter schools purchase it. A high fence can be built the current parking lot will no longer be there.

Maybe, but there really isn’t a lot of space. Especially to share. I live nearby, I wish it was a better option, but it just isn’t.

Yeah it’s funny Latin 1 and 2 WLs are moving but not Basis. In a few years Basis will be really hard to get into.

Flash forward 8 years and some of the kids who allegedly couldn't handle BASIS, whose families turned down 5th grade spots for those in other programs, are off to more competitive colleges than some of the BASIS grads. The big picture is far more complex than you claim.

The inconvenient truth is that poor minority kids who study Chinese in public schools tend not to get enough Chinese or English, absent inputs DCPCS isn't providing. Their families can't afford to reinforce Chinese at home with au pairs, tutors, camps etc. They also can't afford to provide extra ELA inputs. In MoCo, the 2 Chinese ES immersion programs send poor kids to summer immersion camps free of charge. YuYing does not.

Poor kids in Ward 7 and 8 are probably better off staying close to home for their schooling, as long as they attend a well-run charter. Call me names if you have the energy, but I'm not wrong.
