Ok, snarky comment, but I stand by what I wrote. She gets $25/hour, 4 weeks paid PTO a year, annual bonus, and it’s for 2 kids that are in school most of the day. Most weeks she doesn’t even work the full 40 but we pay her the full amount. She deserves to be paid a living wage. I think that’s pretty good for DC!

This happened during my son’s music class when he was little. The teacher was too nice (and a pushover) to say anything. But the woman and her friend thought they were there for social hour instead of the music class, and it was disruptive.

OP, you’re the rude one in this scenario - rude to the teacher and rude to the other participants. Skip the class and grab coffee with your friend instead.

Oh please. I am a SAHM and I do not talk during the classes I attend unless I am addressing the teacher, my child, and singing a song. I can chat after class. You are paying money to talk to your friend?

The rest of the class of mothers and fathers applaud this nanny. Just because we wouldn’t say anything doesn’t mean we like people like you, OP. Trust there were other parents there who will be thrilled you and your friend finally shut up.

No matter how much she is paid, she is still working for her living, versus you, where you earn your keep by whatever has inspired your DH to foot your bills.

Np. Where I took my 3 or 4 month old we were supposed to sing everything - even “watch out! There’s spit up on the mat!” I did classes during maternity leave in part to be social and was scolded for asking a mother how old her baby was (rather than singing it). It wasn’t my thing and I quit. I’d previously done it with my other daughter / different teacher who was more focused on play than theory and was understanding of some talk and it was a much better experience. But yeah, I think their thing is no talking during class.

Allow me to correct the title of this topic: "Person I believe is beneath me asked me to not talk during Music Together class when I was being rude and disruptive"

+1 how rude to talk during class. Go get coffee if you want to catch up with your friend. People pay money to participate in the class - not hear you gossip.

I never have the courage to speak up. I would have silently glared at you. And I would have thanked the nanny after class. No one wants to hear your mouth run during class, OP.
