I'm 21:14 poster. I found the controlling and possessive got worse over time. My XH was not controlling when we were dating but he was definitely
a love bomber and possessive while dating. The controlling and obsessions about me started after we were married.

Listen to your gut. I'm with a great guy now.

This. My XH was also verbally abusive and controlling. It started out with controlling. He would look at the odometer on the car to see how many miles I had driven each day. Then it got really weird. I would walk the dog and if I did not get home soon enough he would start flipping out and ask me where I was.
