We have yet to get covid (knowingly anyway, but we test the kids when they have symptoms as they attend school/daycare). At this point in the pandemic, I have more anxiety of a covid infection ruining a long planned trip than the covid infection itself. We are meeting up with my family to share a beach house in a couple weeks. My sister and her family have had covid recently so they are set. We had to cancel holiday plans due to a daycare covid exposure and now I'm on pins and needles until we go, I really don't want to cancel this one too!! Or get it there and have to leave.

Family of 4 came back recently from 2-week trip to Hawaii. Planes and airports completely packed. None of us masked during the trip or on the plane. Very few people were masked. None of us got COVID.

DH and I have traveled internationally and domestically 10+ times since Nov 2020 and never got COVID from any of those trips. We've also attended many high capacity events (weddings, concerts, etc) never got COVID from those either. I ended up getting it at work and giving it to him.

i got covid on vacation to Iceland but it wasn't an exposure on the airplane becuase it was about a week later I had symptoms. I wore a mask in the airport and plane also, though I did eat. I don't have a clue as to my exposure--we barely talked to anyone on the whole trip--must have been at breakfast one day. I will say I noticed more people coughing on the plane than ever before, but maybe I am just more dialed into that now.

Yup; the people I know who traveled in June on airplanes are all reporting that they got COVID. They aren't sharing that information on social media or anything, but when I talk to them in person I learn that people in their family or traveling group got sick. In most cases it was a bad cold, but kept them from enjoying the rest of their trip. On one case the traveler passed the virus on to the elderly relatives they were visiting, which was a bummer, but the elderly relative is doing OK.

All I am saying is, I know a lot of people who have traveled this spring. In Jan, Feb, March, April, May my friends traveled and they did not get COVID.

Suddenly, in June, people are traveling same as they did all those other months, but I am hearing that they got COVID. Lots of people. Like it is coming up in just about every conversation I have with friends who recently traveled this month.

I think that is because people are really not taking precautions anymore. Earlier in the year everyone had to mask, people don't have to anymore and most do not.

But beyond air travel, much of the country has not been taking precautions for some time now. I suspect that with some warmer regions, simply moving indoors to the AC contributes to the seasonal patterns.

I would also think that the sheer volume of travelers in June is higher than in the previous months since schools were letting out.

Mass for drops and requirements for testing to get back into the country we’re also dropped. Of course it makes sense that more people are getting it on trips now when they’re on an airplane for five hours on mast next to someone who just got Covid on vacation

My DH and DS travelled to Alabama a few weeks ago for a graduation. Air travel, packed arena for the graduation itself, no masks, family members they stayed with are vaxxed but area has a low vaccination rate overall. We were sure that this was going to be the time we got Covid. But neither of them got it.

So naturally we will probably get it when we attend a family wedding (with a vaccination requirement for attendance) in a super liberal area of NE, cause that's the way it goes right?!

We got back a week ago from 10 days in Costa Rica. We stayed masked (KN-95s) on the airplanes and in the airports (about half of the passengers on our flights were wearing masks) and did not mask while in Costa Rica. As of today, we are all currently COVID-free.

Flew maskless to and from France in June, no COVID. Attended conference in May with 700 people, also maskless, no COVID. Went to Disney World maskless, no COVID. Kids went to preschool maskless all year long in Red southern state. No COVID. Kid goes to summer camp in DC. COVID, but none of us caught COVID from kid while being maskless. Idk COVID is weird, just live your life and do what you’re comfortable with.

I don't know if it is luck or something more serious. I never got covid. Not my husband. We traveled domestically, international. Flew planes. Rented cars. Stayed at hotels. We never ever stopped working. Not even for one day while covid was around us. We only masked if it was necessary, obligatory. Somehow I had really hard time to tolerate mask on my face. Got too many headaches. So I tried to avoid it as much as I could. And we work outside of our home. Specially for me it is more than luck... It is a miracle I never got covid. 2020 was very bad for catering business. But last year and specially this year it is in full bloom . I work on parties, weddings.... with 100's and sometimes thousands of people every single week.... I think it is almost impossible to expose myself more to covid.... Still nothing.....

My guess is this: If no one is masking much anymore on the airplanes, and someone gets on the plane who has COVID, everyone on that plane is going to get COVID.

If no one happens to have COVID on that particular plane, you will be fine.

In past months, with everyone masking, your chances would be much better even if someone had COVID.
