This place looks really good. Always looking for a good bagel.

Bagels Etc. in Dupont Circle has, in my opinion, the best bagels in DC and also fits this hole in the wall category.
+1. They are cash only and they also sell bags of day-old bagels.

For NoVA, we recently discovered Bobby’s Bagels and think they are as good as anything we buy in NY. https://bobbysbagelcafe.com/

Note the Oakton location just moved, so it’s not correct in Google Maps.

Thank you for this one! I'm in the area frequently, and have been on the hunt for a good NYC style bagel place. I used to go to Barto's Bagels, but they closed.

It’s not visible from outside, you need to go inside an unmarked door to find it, and it’s as bare bones as you can be and still be a functioning restaurant. I’ve never eaten anything less than amazing there and while it is vegan, you in no way need to be vegan to enjoy it.

Oh gawd. Vegan?? Yuck.
What are you 12? If not, you should grow up; I taught my 5-year-old not to say "yuck" when someone is eating something he doesn't like.

Also the Dominican place run by twin brothers behind Target in Columbia Heights. The French bakery (Caprice?) a couple streets north of the adoninical place had good croissants.

A couple streets north of the *Dominican* place I meant.

YES. Los Hermano's. True home cooking, and the best comfort food.

Now that you mention it, I guess this is kind of a hole in the wall. I’ve never thought of it that way. The food is awesome!

Shoot, I just drove by this place a few times going back and forth to a kid's camp. It looks like a place that closed 5 years ago from the outside. Sorry I missed it.

Sandy spring camp? Me too!
