I knew it was SEL. So many of these DCUM crazies hate any SEL education.
I am so confused by your post. Everyone I know in real life hates it because we *need* an SEL program and this is not one
Bingo! I think it's the MCPS PR person again. Or the person who chose Leader in Me. SEL is great, but that program is NOT the one we need.
Which program would you recommend?
I really like the Leader in me. It seems great. The usual astroturfers just enjoy spreading misinformation and grievance about all things MCPS.
Have you attended the 3 day training required for schools implementing this program for the first time? If not, I am fairly certain you may have a different opinion. Did you use any components of the program with your own class of students this past school year? If so, how did that go? The only thing some students seemed to like about it was the fact that they had their own colorful workbook to write in on the few days we managed to fit this into our already tight schedule. I haven’t attended the Tier 2 training yet, but have heard that schools will no longer have individual books for students.
Yes, I did, but I'm just a teacher not one of the anti-MCPS astroturfers trying to bring Youngkin-style political change to MD.

I had training last week on this program after it had been implemented in our school for a year.
They have transitioned mcps to an entirely online program, no more student workbooks.
The digital curriculum is still being written and participants were unable to access the preview curriculum because of tech glitches.
The main focus was on publicly displaying student data and maintaining student portfolios.
When concerns arose around socioemotional needs we were assured that they are not an SEL program.
I heard it was SEL. Are you sure?

Would this have been decided yet? The contract extension for 2022-23 was approved in February 2022.

Seems doubtful especially since it's such a well-respected program.
If this is MCPS PR, you're laughably transparent. Please just stop. You only inflame more tensions with these dumb platitudes.
It's genuine. It's a great program. I'm not sure why these posters have to bash eerything.
that's the DCUM way!
Anyone who disagrees with them and likes something must be a shill! LOL
