Recently my DD and I painted each others nails for fun, and she picked a bright red for her nails. When my mom saw it, she pulled me aside and said that while it's one thing for little girls to wear nail polish, it is "inappropriate" for her to wear red because it's "too sexy." Like with purple nail polish my DD is safe, but in red nail polish she will get sex trafficked.

This is what you all sound like. It is nonsensical and actually doing the opposite of what you claim to be doing. You aren't protecting girls, you are exposing them to sexual objectification that they will live with for the rest of their lives once you deem them old enough to "be sexy".

OP, my daughter is 10 and finishing 4th grade. She and I both decided "not yet" this summer. For me, growing up, it was the summer I was 12, after 6th grade--6th grade was ES for me and is for my kids as well. I think 12 is probably where we will end up, too. I see tons of girls of all ages in bikinis though. I just think it looks silly--not trashy or anything.

Only a fool would put a female child under age 16 in a bikini.

Have you read every page in this thread? Lots of people are talking about triangle tops and saying there's nothing wrong with them.

I'm not sure how I feel about the fact that this is my reaction, but I know I cringe a little when I see little girls with tops on emulating a style that's designed to be sexually appealing on women. We can all agree that there's no practical reason to wear a top like that, right?
