Most moms helicopter, social engineer, and snowplow - and rationalize it as good parenting. They will find one bad story of the millions of fun sleepovers to justify their fixation of controlling their kids like puppets. Don’t be one of them. Still be excited for sleepovers. I love hosting them.

Tons of memories. It made me teary-eyed. My youngest is 12 and she has sleepovers at least twice a month. Here or other houses. Kids NEED socialization in person, now more than ever.
They don't need it, you do. It gives you a break. Fun house is code for drugs, alcohol, sex and partying.

Not necessarily! My best friends house was the “fun house” but not the party house. We did lots of sleepovers elementary-HS and I won’t say it was all innocent all the time there wasn’t drinking, drugs, sex or partying. Her mother is an amazing woman and we all love her dearly, she’s like a second mom to a lot of the women who grew up spending time at the house. I understand not wanting to do sleepovers and I don’t think they are necessary but I also think even teens can enjoy a fun house where they can relax, talk for hours, watch dumb tv and eat junk food.
Because not all adults are good people and not all homes are safe. And, often you don't know till its to late. Thats great her mom was a good person but that's not always everyone. You were lucky.

Yuck, are you the mom that social engineers her kid's friendships and socializations? Why would you know her friends family very very well. Ick

Anonymous wrote:Nope! My kids LOVE sleepovers! Such a fun part of childhood- some of my most fond memories come from sleepovers as a kid and I am so glad my kids get to experience them as well! Usually in the summer we'll have kids sleeping here or my kids will sleep elsewhere multiple times per week. School year is a little harder and less often because they sometimes have activities in the morning (and church on Sundays) so in those cases we'll just pick up at 9:30 or so. But otherwise? Bring 'em on!
