Serious question. If they lift the ban in EU formula, are the EU companies really going to have the supplies to ship here? How are they in any better state from a manufacturing perspective than we are? Our shortage isn’t just because of the Abbott’s Lab closure.

I think by September this has to be resolved. I wouldn’t stock up because you don’t know which formula your baby will take and also there is always potential for recall or something. But I don’t see how this can continue till September.
Also you’re a jerk. There are existing babies right now who can’t eat and you’re going to stockpile for September. I’m due in 3 weeks, likely can’t breastfeed due to health issues, and I’m not stockpiling.
Sorry that came out wrong, I did t mean like going and cleaning the shelves. I meant buying one every few weeks or so. I can't breastfeed and the idea of not having food when my baby gets here is scary for me too you know.

I think most people have figured out that the monopoly was one of the major contributing issues and that the federal government is the second.
I don't even think the FDA is necessarily dragging it's feet as much as it is mired in their own process and policies in trying to respond to a crisis and generally just manager anything.
I feel terrible for parents facing this issue and it must be amazingly stressful.

The FDA is also working on EUA for infant vaccines. You want infant food or medicine in a very stressful year? Pick. You can't get both for the entire population. I actually feel bad for them.

Does anyone know if there's anything we can do to help moms who are struggling if we don't have any formula on hand to share? I'm in DC, so I don't really have a government representative to call but I'm happy to try calling everyone else's if anyone thinks it would help..
Please try calling who you can! Mayor’s office even. We need to keep shouting until they finally fix the problem.
