My husband got COVID from our child and now has pneumonia. Screw people like you!
I’m very sorry for your husband and do wish him the best recovery, but most cases are NOT developing into serious issues now.
Thank you. It’s been pretty rough. He’s an otherwise healthy person with no underlying conditions. Hopefully he will make a full recovery and bounce back soon, but it’s been a lot to deal with for our family. It’s upsetting when people minimize COVID knowing it still affects others’ health.

From what I've heard, the head of their school is insane about COVID (full blown COVIDian). He implied earlier this year that forced masking at Congressional would be forever and Congressional was one of the last schools in the area to get rid of masks (which seemed to have been done with head kicking and screaming).
I feel so bad for these families. Bars and restaurants wide open down the street, while kids (who are at lower risk with COVID than the flu) are forcibly masked while in their prime development stage. What a stain on the history of this school this insanity will be.
Congressional parent here, super happy about the reinstated masks. Currently 1/6 of my kid’s grade is out with covid, all diagnosed since Thursday. And the head of school never said forced masking would be forever. From the beginning he’s said it would depend on and change based on the covid situation in the school and surrounding community.
Sounds like a responsible plan.
Omicron is back in full force. Any responsible school is masking again due to increasing numbers.
Masks worked really well during Omicron. Oh yeah, mask mandates have failed repeatedly, but let's be the outlier school while bars and restaurants are open down the stream. That'll do it.

I don't think it's mandatory for every student. Still optional.
No. Masks are mandatory for age 2 and up inside. Still optional outside. But in the last 4 hours, Congressional’s covid tracker jumped from 13 active cases in grades 5-8 to 22 active cases (students and faculty/staff). Given that there are about 30 kids per grade, plus however many teachers (about 12-15 for the four grades), that’s a pretty high percentage of people who have tested positive since Wednesday, with the bulk of them testing positive since Friday. As I said above, I am very happy that they’ve reinstated masks, at least indoors.

So you aren’t a Congressional family. You are just passing in gossip?![]()

Not trying to minimize your family’s suffering, but the flu and strep also cause death and some serious side effects. Diseases are going to be out there. We can’t go around hiding from viruses the rest of eternity. I do hope he recovers soon and this must be really scary for you.
