I do think it’s user error for those who think it’s bland. Almost all recipes are lowest common denominator as written. I never follow any recipe to the letter — I just assume the “[spice] to taste” is implied. Anything calling for garlic should be at least doubled.
You can't measure garlic - you have to add the amount that you feel in your soul.
