It's official - she just announced it to the community!

I am so happy for the RCES community, maybe we can get back that caring, supporting, and nurturing environment we used to have.

And for those on here talking about entitlement? I feel sorry for you, judging a community you know nothing about. The last few years were awful with her, and our kids suffered for it.

I agree. RCES will probably get a new Principal and AP. With these attitudes of the faux rich, I don’t blame the principal and ap from wanting to leave. Best to be where you are understood and appreciated. I mean OMG - can you believe the principal sometimes doesn’t attend school events in favor of attending her OWN kid’s school events? The druthers! It’s almost like she has a life outside of school or something - she needs to remember to always attend to OUR kids first!

They're going to want some continuity. They're not going to install a new principal AND a new vice principal.

Glen Haven had a new acting principal and a new AP this past year. It can happen.

Are you new here? This happens about a dozen times (at least) every year in MCPS. The board approves principal positions, so they can't post a job before the board has approved the person. HR has rules they have to follow, including how long a job must be posted (I think it's a week or two) before applications can be reviewed. 2 months is plenty of time to find a new principal. How long do you think it should take?

Do you think 2 months is really enough time to fully evaluate what RCES needs, which candidates are able and willing to address those needs, go through the interview process, etc.? I don’t. But then again, I value thoughtfulness and thoroughness.

Ideally they would have the new principal hired before July 1, but even that is not mandatory. If they're in place by late July/beginning of August that can work too. It happens every year.

What does “work” mean? If “work” is defined as the best solution for the students and faculty, then great. But if “work” means there’s a warm body in the job, then no - that doesn’t work.

My point was that, let's say for the sake of argument they do take a little longer with the process to get this position filled, that they don't need to rush to get everything finalized by July 1. In prior instances some new principals have had start dates a little later in the summer.

We’ve had a good experience at LPMS. The principal is very good (this is only her 2nd or 3rd year there, but she seems experienced), my child has had a few teachers who went above and beyond to help when dc struggled during virtual learning, and the counseling office has done a great job helping our child on the spectrum.

I think that MCPS leadership has probably been thinking much longer than 2 months about what the school needs. The parent input piece is a well-documented dog and pony show. There are multiple threads on that topic. Since the school has a principal intern, if that person is doing a decent job, it's probably their job to lose. The community input is all for show and the central office already knows who they will be identifying for that spot.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I just know how the process works.
