This is OP. Pre-Law, Economics, Poly-Sci, Government, International Affairs - along those lines.
Easily U. Chicago. Chicago is historically dominant in Economics, has one of the best law schools in the country (although I doubt Pre-law is a major), and is probably strong in the remaining social sciences as well.
I can imagine someone picking Wake Forest but on social life alone. It's Southern, Greek Life dominant, etc. etc. Meaning you have to not only be a wealthy WASP, but a wealthy Southern WASP. Wealthy WASP from DC suburbs does not count.
Why don't you go mask off and say what you REALLY mean: You are a bigot who hates gentiles.
This has nothing to do with being a "gentile", it's a basic fact regarding social life in a wealthy Southern school.
The only benefit that Wake offers over Chicago is the social life, more particularly Greek Life. However to experience the fullest extent of social life that Wake offers, one must be a wealthy Southern WASP. Most preferably, the "P" meaning Southern Baptist.
This is the general reality, and to point it out is not bigoted against "gentiles". If anything it's the socially exclusionary practices that are bigoted against the vast majority of "gentiles" who don't fit into the particular demographic of wealthy - Southern - white - Anglo-Saxon (in claim) - Southern Baptist.
Y’all. Please. The Southern Baptists are not the upper class Southerners. The rich Southerners look down at the Southern Baptists. The Southern class system is very English-/Indian-style. Intricate and brutal.

University of Chicago is #12 in terms of the percent of students who go on to get Ph.Ds, while Wake Forest isn't in the top 50 Ph.D. feeder schools.

Because US News told you so? Wake is an stellar school, with far superior weather and 1000x safer surroundings than the Chicago warzone UofC is in.
Yes, but also because of the number of Nobel laureates in UChicago (at least 94) compared with 0 (?) in Wake Forest.
I hate hearing parents talkginna iut Nobel laureates. You know that in academics, they don’t give you the award until like at least ten years after your significant work. These laureates are old and non teaching. When they reached, they don’t teach intro classes.
And Chicago is better? Why the ranking said so?
Oh yeah, economics. Well, only the ftad program mattered.
So go to Wake Forest, have a good time and if you have beef left in you, go to graduate school. Otherwise, go enjoy cold, windy, crime centered, and super competitive and needy place called UChicago, because youth is wasted if you don’t spend every minute in studying.
Chicago has one of the strongest set of social science departments in the world. Economics for undergrads = Top 4. Political science for undergrads = Top 10. Psychology = Top 15.
And regardless of whether they're Nobel Laureates or not, the "big named" professors DO teach at Chicago.
Yes they teach, but they are often among the worst profs… (yes I went there)
Honestly, uchicago is brutal academically. Compared to my friends, only caltech and mit are in the same league. Probably the best PhD prep university in the US. I knew one kid who went to wake. Sounded like he had a lot more party time than I did. Though for wake’s price - I’d rather just go to a true SEC school. Clemson sounds more fun.
You were doing well until you tried to talk sports. Both Wake and Clemson are in the ACC not SEC

In addition to clueless, you sound racist. Sounds like you have some deep issues with Christian people.
How exactly?
WASP generally means Protestants, but in the case of the South, it specifically means Southern Baptist. Meaning being Catholic is obviously not okay, but even say Episcopalian Protestant is not sufficient.
So the Southern WASPs are the ones that have problems with Christians who they don't consider to be sufficiently Christian.
You have no idea what you’re talking about. Do you even know what WASP stands for? Look it up for us.
Please go ahead and teach us what WASP, one of the most common words in American demographic lexicon, stands for.

It's not the case that nobody gives a damn about how undergrad programs rank. Employers often do. A UChicago grad with a major in economics will be looked upon differently from a WF grad with the same major, for instance. It would be patently false that most people have never even heard of UChicago. Even my friends and family outside the country have heard of it, and hold the university in high esteem.
The people that matter know about U. Chicago - employers at top firms and admissions at graduate, law, medical and business schools.

My child does not attend but spent some time on campus and thought it was great. Excellent business school, amazing campus, great sports but most of all DC thought the kids at Wake seemed genuinely happy.
Apparently they work hard too. Not a walk in the park.
+1
Also wake forest has a reputation for grade deflation
