My mom had an aunt Rita, and I think she (my mom) couldn't pronounce it at first. She started calling her Petey. She was known as Aunt Pete for the rest of her life.

There are some nonbinary kids at my kids' school who have chosen names that are objects. These are not the names, but they are something like Soup. Crime. Ohio. Is this common among NB teens?

Oh no, I see my future. DD1 calls DD2 JuJu now. I'm not a fan, but I've stopped correcting her.
I had an great aunt named Julia who everyone called Auntie Juju. The name stuck. I have a Matthew and his twin called him Moo, Moo Moo or Mooch. He called her Enemy instead of Emily for a little bit lol. Eventually that morphed into Em or Ems which are more common nicknames for Emily.
My nephew called me Enemy instead of Emily for a while. I was sad when he nailed saying Emily!! It cracked me up!
