Really? What inferiority complex? Because when I look at these threads I usually see VA posters let the data and facts around things like job growth speak for themselves, while many DC and especially MD posters sit around taking potshots with the maturity level and ignorance of a 10 year-old.

Seems like you might be projecting your own inferiority complex, PP.

What's the point of all these threads? So VA folks can feel good about themselves? Stick it to MoCo?

Many people would never live in a state as backwards as VA. Youngkin? Absolutely not.

The confederate capitol was literally Richmond, Virginia!

NFW I would ever consider living in VA.

Do you know what happened to General Lee's house?

Hahaha. Not in the least, honey, but you keep telling yourself that.

I think you just proved the PP's point.

This is the DMV, people live and work all over. Who cares if there are more jobs in NoVA. I could see if housing prices were suppressed b/c of it, but they aren't. I hate NoVA. Would never live there. Who cares? I should live there b/c there are more jobs? I'm a lawyer. BTW, I live in DC.

Because MD and MoCo don't diversify their tax base, duh. If everyone in MoCo has to drive to VA for jobs, it means the only real revenue for the county overwhelmingly comes from income taxes. When the county needs more money what can they do? All they can do is raise property and income taxes. The fact that MoCo cannot grow organically and create jobs other than ones that suck off the govt teat means it misses out on tons of corporate taxes that help reduce the taxation burden on residents. Residents will flee if all the county can ever do is raise taxes and struggles to create quality jobs.

LOL. Is that the reason why more people moved to MoCo in the last 10 years than to Fairfax county? People reluctantly move to NoVa because of their jobs and not because of quality of life. Even with plenty of jobs, NoVa is not a pleasant place to live.
Btw, 66% of MoCo residents work in MoCo.

I doubt suppose that you want to include Loudon in your analysis (you know, the county where most of the growth us actually occurring)

Who in the hell would want to live in Loudoun with that insane debate on schools. You couldn't pay me to live there. I think I'd like to live without racism - thank you.

I’m glad to hear that there is no racism in Montgomery county and that the accusations about school boundaries and those who want them a certain way are vicious lies.

That means there’s a lot of crying wolf about racism which is also disgusting, but that’s a separate issue.

No move to MD. Make it so great that you never have to have any kind of Republican governor again.

Virginia works because it's purple and pragmatic. I don't want a blue or a red state, I want a state where both parties have a legitimate chance of winning and thus have to care about moderate voters.

But what about racist, misogynist MAGAs like Youngkin?

I don't want a state where someone like him could win.

-VA resident

Youngkin never happens if local government didn't collectively lose their minds.

You mean taking a cautious approach to deadly, global pandemic? Or offer an anti-bias training to teachers?

Fcking lame excuses to elect a POS MAGA governor.

Nailed it.

So basically, MoCo relies entirely on govt jobs and some crappy low paying service sector jobs at places like Giant, Safeway, and Target. Meanwhile in NoVa, the top employers are major banks, super high end tech and software companies, top consulting firms, and other major professional services firms. I never knew MoCo was getting its lunch eaten this bad. NoVa has way, way better jobs and a far better diversity of jobs/firms. MoCo relies entirely on govt, clearly has a severe lack of innovative firms that pay high salaries when compared to NoVa, and a large portion of their residents working in very low quality service sector jobs that probably pay just over minimum wage. How is MoCo not doomed with this flimsy of a tax and employer base?

I believe it, thanks for the data. Sanctuary city MoCo and Mcps are bith terribly managed.

This plus higher county plus state income taxes is the reasons homes cost less in MoCo than comparable Lots and homes in NoVa

And yet, MD drivers clog up VA roadways because they come here every day for their JOBS. Imagine that! And learn to drive, btw.
