We applied because we know several families that send their children there, and they all had nice things to say about the school. Our family was kind, open, and receptive throughout the entire application process. We could tell during the parent interview that it was not a good match. The HOS was just short of openly hostile. It was a bit baffling.
I post this as a reminder to those pressing refresh on A web browser today to keep in mind that not everyone has the same options, financially or socially, for their children’s education. It may seem unfair to simply get a note on a website that your DC did not get accepted, but some of us don’t even get that level of courtesy.
Some of us are stuck with the “take it or leave it” public schools or applying to smaller institutions that yield what little power their position grants them with outright cruelty.
It was Dominion Christian School in Oakton.
OH WOW THOSE GUYS!
OP, they treated us the exact same way two years ago! Also at Oakton. Meanwhile my brother's kids are treated so kindly at the Potomac Falls campus -- which is the whole reason we decided to apply! For a "Christ-centered school," DCS Oakton is vicious. Honestly, I'm getting angry all over again.
We dodged a bullet, OP.

I’m so sorry, pp. do something nice for yourself today and enjoy being with you family outside this weekend.
That’s very unkind and unnecessary of that school. Maybe you dodged a bullet?
Actually, PP sounds very judgmental and unkind. And perhaps not a good fit for that particular school (because they were "reduced" to "take it or leave it public schools or applying to smaller schools"). That sounds like PP was hostile to the school's mission and they sensed that. She was wasting their time.
Many religious schools don’t want openly hostile students. They are fine with some diverging viewpoints, but fit is important and if you are anti-religion, I can’t see why you would even apply.

Didn’t know they had a Potomac falls campus
