Cancel culture is keeping masks on. Can't afford to be accused of being some anti-science MAGA Trumper in FCPS.

I had mine off, but put it back on out of respect for them—I spend a lot of time helping kids one on one only inches from them, so if they felt safer with masks on I want to respect them and make them comfortable. I happily took it off during planning or when sitting at my desk far away from kids.

My younger son is in 6th grade - his class had 3 kids out of 18 unmasked (including him), and his teacher also did not wear a mask. He saw a fair amount of people at school without masks, but still said the vast majority of people were masked, kids and adults.
Both of my kids are vaccinated, and understand that they have a near zero risk of a bad outcome from COVID. I am very proud of them for being true to themselves, and not blindly following the crowd, since they didn't want to continue masking.
They both said that they didn't receive any negative pushback from their peers or teachers (though my teenager's good friends did tease him, but he said not in a mean way, it was good natured - the same way that they're always busting each other's chops).
I have to admit that I am surprised that so maybe people were still masked at TJ - the science school - I would have thought that they would have a better understanding of the scientific data regarding COVID - but, to each his own, and certainly, everyone should do what makes them personally feel most comfortable.

I would report this. Even better if it can be recorded on video.
Regardless of personal opinions, they are openly violating the rules by discriminating like this.

I realize preschool is probably not what the OP was asking about, but it’s still a measure of where people are.
Most all families asked that their 4 year olds stay in masks, and one family unenrolled because the program would not require masks as of today.
Teachers stayed in masks today, but I suspect some will be no masks after today.

So what. Maybe the teacher has immune issues. Would you rather the teacher quit and kid has sub for rest of year?
