Ruth - ugly as hell
Ruby - cutesy and ugly
Grace - eh
Gloria - ugly
Greta - ugly
Etta - ugly and will be mispronounced
Eve - see Etta
June - slightly less ugly than Gloria and Greta
So, go with Grace.
Woah now. These names are not ugly. Clearly you shouldn’t be commenting since you favor some other name style (let me guess, your kids named Madysyn?).

- Last name is a short, strong, one-syllable name that pairs well with most names.
- Middle name is going to be a family name that doesn't go well with much, but is what it is.
- Very important to me that her name be phonetic and easy to pronounce. I myself have a constantly mispronounced name and will not do that to my child.
- A strong name is also important to me; nothing too precious.
- We are not religious - I know some of these have a strong religious association. Not sure if that's weird.
Here is my working list of names. I'd like thoughts on these, and/or ideas for other names to consider. Thanks!
Ruth
Ruby
Grace
Gloria
Greta
Etta
Eve
June

From this list, the R names are a bit too singsongy with Rose. Same with Etta. Grace is very, very popular.
I like June best, then Greta from this list.

Also:
Maeve
Hazel
Vera
Ava
OP here, I like Vera but am concerned about Veer-uh vs Vare-uh. I want to be sure the pronunciation is obvious. Such a pretty name though.
I have never heard anyone pronounce it “veer-uh”
I have never *not* heard it pronounced that way.

I change my vote.
The fact that it’s Grandma’s name means a lot to me!
Aw thanks! I think DH may not be sold on this one but we shall see. I was thinking “Glo” as a nickname.
