Once acceptance letters arrive, will parents have a chance to re-tour the schools? I can't help feeling like we missed something at Potomac. Everyone raves about the buildings but we found them to be cold and sterile vs Langley, which has such a cozy campus and large, sunny classrooms. We loved how, as the kids get older, they switch buildings on their own, which gives them a feeling of independence.

In reading this thread, the main differential appears to be HS sports for boys which aren't even in play for your rising K student unless that is what you are interested in hearing about. I suspect that OP - you may want to hear more about the littles experience? We toured both schools - we thought both had great academics, teachers, and "feel" for our family. If you live in McLean, playdates will be easier at LL. What totally swayed us was the renovated lower school at Potomac - the light-filled rooms, Science room and outdoor playground area. In fact, I think it was the outdoor spaces that sealed the deal with us. So far, we love Potomac. Both are great schools - you can't do wrong by either.

We have loved Langley - the school is very warm and nurturing, and our DC has made a lot of wonderful friends. DC is not particularly challenged academically but he is in the preschool program so we aren't expecting much at this point from that. As DC gets older, we will consider applying to Potomac but she's not yet old enough to attend.

How big are class sizes, math/reading/Pe/science gps?
How often is music taught?
How often is Pe?

Parental feedback?
How is hot lunch program?
After care differences?

Both statements are false. The athletics offerings at Langley aren't anything specially, especially because of the limited number of students. They do not dominate Potomac head to head - that assertion is laughable.

Both schools are mediocre in sports, compared to more athletically serious schools. That said, Langley does in fact win against Potomac head to head, the majority of the time. Not overwhelmingly so, but certainly the majority.
