And no, they also didn’t offer any solutions.
Calling one closed bathroom in a school child abuse is far far far from a solution.

I have a quiet girl who has never caused a trouble. She has a congenital issue and gets frequent UTIs. She needs to use the bathroom. She has told me that she can't find an open one during the short breaks she has. Several times she has given up.
I'm contacting the school. I'll get a letter from her urologist and from an attorney if needed. She underwent multiple surgeries as a child and has kidney scarring from the UTIs. I'm not letting this insane policy further damage her kidneys. Maybe Deal should think about this before they implement such an insane policy.
And no, she's not "triggered" by using a different bathroom. She just needs A bathroom, ANY bathroom but on several occasions has not been able to find an open one.

I don’t see how this is challenging.

I asked a student I tutor instead. They told me it’s false. Call the YMCA if you don’t believe me
There are 1450 kids at Deal. ~300 are in Reno who are most affected by this. If your tutee is in the main building, happily this doesn’t affect them. There are 6 adult bathrooms in the main building. There are 4 in Reno. All adult bathrooms in Reno are closed. At least half if not all kid bathrooms are locked in Reno.
This is already different than all adult bathrooms are closed.
Adding that “Half if not all” is what someone says to embellish. A bathroom got shut down bc kids were acting like buttheads. Seems appropriate. Again, not sure what you (the general “you”) want school leadership to do
It depends on the time of day.

The student uses the faculty/staff bathrooms?
I asked if they or any of their friends ever see teachers in the bathrooms and she said no. I’ll go with a real person over someone on here. Even in absolutely shoddy DCPS, it’s unbelievable to me that there are no adult bathrooms working at deal. I’m very active on the union FB site as well, and people post asking for help there with much smaller needs so I’m SURE I would have heard by now.
