We recently bought our teenage son a 2019 Subaru Outback. He is, obviously, not a middle aged white lesbian and he loves the car. We love it too - practical, safe and good gas mileage. Plus he has a different image of Subarus - we spend a lot of time in Maine and they are everywhere. Skiers, snowboarders, hikers, kayakers - all drive them. Also, we were in Colorado and Utah this year and noticed a ton of the Subaru Ascents. So, yea OP, get over yourself and get the Subaru. Time to stop worrying about your image.

I want to love Subaru, but we bought a used one that completely died on us after only 2 years. And the seats were uncomfortable, (too sofa-like, not good support) and the drive was too soft, like a grandma Cadillac.

This pretty much describes us, and our neighbors who have Subarus. We have a Forester, it's a great car. I had no idea people had so many pre-conceived notions about who drives these cars. They are reliable and well priced, and it was the size we were looking for. We've been very happy with it. We are not outdoorsy and we drive it around Arlington mostly?

LOL. I'm the PP and the one who first posted the line to be funny. Not sure why someone took offence at a simple joke. I was in 7th grade when the show premiered, FWIW.

We have owned three Foresters (2005, 2017 and 2019) because of the AWD and versatility. Spoiled by the 2005, we bought the other two thinking they were built to last. The latter two have had more issues than the older one ever did. I’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve had to get those two serviced. Fit and finish is also sketchy. Fuse box plastic cover by the driver’s side falls off constantly and the headlight covers are already opaque. Subaru also dropped the ball by not offering the US market a turbo version. We’re trying a Mazda CX-5 next time.
