OP you can research where the MOCO gang task force focuses on to identify the areas with the highest density. Wheaton, Silver Spring Gaithersburg, and Germantown. Yes these areas are large so there are gang free areas in some of those areas. The Kentlands in Gaithersburg is not a gang place but it has a Gaithersburg address.
The school clusters are trickier though. There isn’t gang activity at Churchill, Wootton, Whitman. I’ve never heard of gang issues in WJ, BCC, QO,Poolesville. The rest have issues. RM is a great high school with an amazing IB program but they have gangs. The rest all have problems with Wheaton, Einstein, Blair, Seneca, MacGruder, Gaithersburg, Kennedy being the worst. Not sure about Damascus, Sherwood or Paint branch but probably a small amount like RM.
Possibly except there is gang activity on Old Georgetown road near 270 spur.
Gang activity does not mean they live there, btw.
Also Churchill, Whitman and Wootton have high drug/drinking culture/activity … since the offenders are white they are not a “gang”. White girls are more likely to be raped by a white boy, so not exactly “safe from crime”.

Silver Spring, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Germantown....just assume it exists.
Yes to all of these. And do not expect any sympathy or conversation on your post Op. Most of the posters on this tread are social justice live and let live idiots who will call you a "Karen" for judging a neighborhood's safety on gang activity or proximity. Listen to your instincts and do what feels right for your family. I suggest you visit your local police department, they will gladly inform you on the areas of concern. And yes, I'm sure I'll get flamed for this suggestion. So DO NOT care.
As a Rockville resident, this is news to me. Where in Rockville are the gangs? Can't speak to the other cities, but I have never felt or seen any gang activity in Rockville. Where and what gangs are these?
BTW I grew up out west with real gangs in schools in the 80s/90s.
.. and to add.. I'm no crunchy liberal. I'm an Independent and I'm pro-SROs.

We all know The Van Buren Boys gang runs DTSS
Anonymous wrote:This is a funny question. OP, everywhere has gangs. Just look at crime stats, it's much more relevant to your level of safety.
Also, gang crime is pretty unlikely to affect you - it's mostly drugs, and violence involving other gangs. Random teenagers doing carjackings (which we have in my Cap Hill neighborhood) is much scarier IMO

Where in Rockville is the gang activity happening?
We moved out of 20851 after SWAT raided the house across the street from us for gang activity.
I'll admit that this was in 2013. But that was the final straw to get out of Dodge
So almost a decade ago? The feds and local police have worked really hard on gang taskforces.
And was it gang related?
I googled it.
https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/swat-team-responds-to-rockville-home-for-report/1940803/
Doesn't sound gang related.

where in Rockville? I call troll.
Are you people asleep? https://wtop.com/montgomery-county/2017/07/montgomery-co-home-to-local-hit-squad-gang-ms-13-homicides/
That didn’t take place in Rockville
This was a poor googling job by the ^PP who clearly googled "rockville" and "ms-13" and came up with this, not bothering to actually read the article.
Rockville is the "capital" of Montgomery County, so most of the reporting and big county cases are conducted in Rockville.
The case was in Rockville courts, which is why they are reporting from Rockville.
The truth is most crime, gang or not, goes up 270 and 355.., proximity to getting out of dodge quickly.
Where does it say that the incident occurred in Rockville?
The incident did NOT occur in Rockville, the trial did because that is where the moco court is.

Top google result, took 2 secs:
The chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime in Rockville is 1 in 68. Based on FBI crime data, Rockville is not one of the safest communities in America. Relative to Maryland, Rockville has a crime rate that is higher than 64% of the state's cities and towns of all sizes.
So don’t live there.
