Short term, it's a nice goal and accomplishment, and a fun meet at a nice pool with swimmers/clubs who you might not get to swim against very often. Long term, it doesn't necessarily mean the kid will continue on the path of being a top swimmer.

The December STAT meet in Stafford, VA allowed spectators, standing, for your kid’s races only. But better than nothing. I think the AAC mini meet also allowed spectators. So yes, some meets in VA have allowed it. But not most.
