Good. 92% of students there and 91% of employees have already been vaccinated. Same at UVA, etc.
Agreed. It’s ridiculous to mandate the vaccine at this point. Thank goodness Miyares took action.

An Omicron-specific booster is going to be needed by everyone in the fall or these colleges are going to have huge Covid outbreaks again. Glad my kid is graduating - fall 2020 at JMU was a disaster.
Meh. Most fully vaccinated and boosted people have had Omicron already. You're comparing apples to oranges.

There isn’t a principled basis to keep these vaccine requirements while striking down the covid vaccine requirement, but Miyares is a political creature, not one motivated by sounds legal principles. As long as MAGA isn’t up in arms about the DTaP vaccine, Miyares won’t care.
There's no principled basis for striking down the COVID requirement. But now that they have, it's a slippery slope and all the rest of the vaccine requirements are at risk to include measles, diptheria, rubella, polio, tetanus, etc....

Of the 6 vaxed and boosted people in our family (which includes 4 college and grad students), only 1 has had Omicron. So, no, that's not true.
(A lot of people I know who I thought were boosted actually were not, and they admitted it after getting pretty sick with Omicron.)
The point is, most vaxxed people will get Omicron at some point. If they've been boosted, it'll likely be very mild. If they've been vaxxed, they won't be that sick. If you've got your booster, then why do you care what other people choose to do?Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Why? With regard to immunizations, the General Assembly has made clear the immunizations that are required for a student to enroll in an institution of higher education. Under § 23.1-800 of the Code of Virginia, “each student shall be immunized by vaccine against diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis, measles (rubeola), German measles (rubella), and mumps” prior to enrollment “for the first time in any baccalaureate public institution of higher education.”4 Students may not register for a second semester or quarter until they have furnished “documented evidence, provided by a licensed health professional or health facility, of the diseases for which [they] ha[ve] been immunized.”5
Now you twits can stop repeating the lie that "no vaccinations are required."
So others than those. Got it.
You sound like a sulky child who refuses to admit they were wrong.
No the schools can not require vaccines. Miyares has issued his edict.
They can't require *COVID* vaccines, unless/until the General Assembly votes to include it. They CAN - and do - require all of the other listed vaccines.
No his view is they can only require what the GA put in the law. Nothing else, COVID, etc...
That's exactly what the PP just said.![]()
