+1, from a Virginian. None of this is surprising from Youngkin, but the people who voted for him will try to pretend that being mad about schools somehow excuses their vote.

Yup. This is 100% on them. Youngkin admitted before the election that he was going to push anti-choice.

Next time rein in your SJWs if you want my vote. Calling me an idiot does not make me feel welcome either. Also recognize that your top issue may not be my top issue. Your doomsday scenario with Youngkin is laughable. Larry Hogan next door runs a deep blue state.

Instead of scaremongering and shaming, do an introspection and come back and earn my vote.

“Earn your vote”? You really need anonymous posters to convince you?

Most adults are capable of evaluating candidates on their own. Weird that you rely on strangers to form your opinion.

Anyway, if you voted for Youngkin you voted for everything that comes with him. Including misogyny. That’s on you.

Your bravado is fueled by your own anonymity. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

The Democrats treated me and my issues as roadkill when they raced through with their one shot agenda. There was no space for anyone who saw it differently from the extreme left wingers that have hijacked policy making in the party. But with supercilious boosters like you trying to shame me for my vote, my one-off vote may not be one-off. Yes, my vote is earned by whoever gets it. And I hope yours is earned as well. Or else our democracy is in trouble.

No one filled out your ballot but you. Stop blaming others for your actions.

Own it.

Where do you see me apologizing for my ballot. I am proud of my vote and the outcome. And despite the fear-monger it I don’t worry that all hell will break loose with Youngkin. I am pro-choice and favor gun control but the Democratic Party is not listening. Enough said.

You are NOT pro choice or in favor of gun control. You sacrificed both of these so you could, what, be sure your kid doesn’t allegedly play privileged bingo. Own your fing choice.

You are not the gatekeeper of who is pro-choice and who favors gun-control. And I don’t owe my vote to your effing set of political priorities. Said it before and will say it again - proud of my vote. And proud of the outcome. And I have no fear or apprehension of what the future holds. Doomsday was a word in the Trump dictionary. Like Trump you are a sore loser and it would not be surprising to see blue “Make Virginia Great Again” hats.

What a pity.

With the language you’re using, you sound like a Republican propagandist paid by billionaires to lie to America.

Here’s the truth:

Trump wants to be a dictator
Trump’s policies help radical billionaires
Republicans want to help Trump because their party serves billionaires
The only way to get votes for the GOP agenda is to lie
Youngkin is a liar
Youngkin is a pro-authoritarian Christian theocratic radical — it’s the only way to get elected in today’s GOP. They need the billionaires’ money

What to do:
End Citizens United
Don’t let any friends watch Fox
For the rest of our lives vote for Democrats unless you want to live in a coathanger theocratic autocracy like Orban’s Hungary or Franco’s Spain.

Yes it is that bad.

Truth be told - this is my first foray into the political forum. I realize there is no room for s differing opinion in the Democrats tent.

Read this thread again and see if you and the others are willing to accommodate others. I truly believe the future of the party is Abigail Spangenberger and not AOC. If not, I will weigh my alternatives.

You think Roe v Wade being overturned is going to scare off businesses?

Not being progressive scares off big businesses.

Yes businesses really really want higher taxes and expenses. Thats why they are flocking to New York and California. My guess is that more companies will come to Youngkins Virginia.

+1. If you vote in favor of government forcing women to be incubators for unwanted and non-viable children and the country being awash in guns so that our kids get gunned down in school at stratospherically higher rates than in virtually every other country, then you do support those policies. Your *feelings* about them are irrelevant. You have *acted* in favor of them.

I am done talking. If you want to prevail then you have to LISTEN. It’s communications 101. And not just to your echo chamber.

And you cannot shame people into agreeing with you. Also communications 101.

Extremists on either side control the narrative but we in the middle control who is in charge. Let that sink in. And step off your self-righteous pedestal and acknowledge our power. And what you have to do to earn our support. Ranting does not help.

Extremists on the left want voting for all who can do so legally, want universal healthcare and want to make it so mentally ill people cannot posess guns legally. Extremists on the right want an authoritarian ethno-Christian white nationalist country.

The two are not the same.

I will give you that.

But Youngkin is not Desantis. He could be Hogan. And I will take a Hogan any day over Bernie/AOC an their ilk.

All this angst about Youngkin threatening abortion rights is much ado about nothing. Youngkin/Miyares are making the right noises to please their base on the right.

And yes Canada is still awaiting all those who had said they would move when Trump got elected. All those emigrating from Virginia can cut a deal with them Canadians. Au Revoir!

Youngkin is not a Hogan. You can keep trying to delude yourself to justify your vote, but it is still nothing more than a delusion. You were conned but can’t bring yourself to admit it.

We are inches away from destroying American democracy.
Choose your side and get in the fight.

True American democrats who believe in rule of law, a fair shake for all, and true liberty (not Koch/Murdoch/GOP Lying Libertarian Liberty) will win.

We will win. If we fight. The GOP must be stopped to save the country for our children.

Take some personal responsibility for your choices. You voted for Youngkin and Miyares and when it was very clear they would attack reproductive rights. You were willing to vote for them because, while you may not be opposed to women deciding what to do with their bodies, you don’t actually believe they ought to have the right to do so.

Your vote is on you, no one else. This post is pathetic.

All this says is that she should be a one-issue voter in YOUR issue.

People like you should be ashamed of themselves. Ashamed that little kids in school have to do active shooter drills. This is not normal. My kid went to a school in the US for the first time at the age of 10 (he's American but brought up mainly overseas, as dad is Air Force) and had never had to do this before. I had to explain to my ten-year-old that he could be shot at school. THIS IS NOT NORMAL.

Keep going. Try to shame me into voting D. Ain’t working.

DP. It does not surprise me at all that you voted for the party of zero accountability. That’s not shaming, just truth.

What makes you think you are "in the middle"? Simply believing that you are? Extremists typically don't regard themselves as such.

Because I exercise a considered choice election. I don’t just bleat in unison with rest of the flock.

Why do you believe it is others' responsibility to listen but not yours? You are not remotely "in the middle" based on your statements here, you are not interested in having a conversation about policy, and you are not open to others' viewpoints - you simply want to view yourself as a victim of whatever issue de jour you've decided represents Democrats wronging you.

I don’t see myself as a victim at all. No idea why you see it that way. I felt wronged and I exercised my vote as a consequence. There are no victims in a functioning democracy. Trump should accept it when the voters have spoken. So should you. Instead of castigating those that voted for Youngkin, focus your energies on getting the independents back in the tent. This thread is proof that you are not there yet. And perhaps never will be.

Far more Americans vote for Democrats than Republicans. This means that Democrats do represent the center. Again, your feelings about this are irrelevant. Facts are facts.

I don’t care about the relevance of my feelings. My vote is relevant and it was relevant in the last election.

“Facts are facts” - care to cite a source for “ This means that Democrats do represent the center.”?

DP. Your feelings sure seem relevant if you are voting out of spite.

She never said she voted out of spite.

"I felt wronged and I exercised my vote as a consequence."

I don't read that as spite. I read that as aligning with someone who was putting higher weight on priorities she puts higher weight on. Her weights or what they average out to don't have to match your weights for it not to be spite.
