Okay, so the bottom line seems to be that Paloma is divisive, Juliet is good but trendy, and Alice is a dark horse, along with Gwendolyn. I am going to have to puzzle this one more. What do people think is a good middle name for Juliet?
Who won those battles? If he's picked the first two kids' names, it's your turn. If you have named the first two, it's his turn. If you each got one, back to the drawing board.
I don't think Paloma is divisive, I think DCUM only likes "ethnic" names if the ethnicity screams Whitey Von Whiterson. They'll recommend Aoife and Linnea and then tell you "ugh, naming a kid Paloma is like naming her Margarita" without even realizing they're outing themselves as ignorant drunks.
You can recognize that the name Paloma is the same as an alcoholic beverage without being an ignorant drunk.
OP, I like Juliet a lot.

Juliet is having a moment, if that matters to you. (Along with Julianna, Guilianna, Julia, Juliette, etc.)
Paloma is beautiful but if you don't have a Spanish/Latin heritage or connection it seems like a stretch pick. But if you do, this is my vote.
My husband is half Mexican, but I agree, it feels like a stretch to me. That’s my concern.
