Testing in DCPS is optional, not mandatory. No one is checking to see if kids test.
Wrong. According to the WAMU story, anyway, students who fail to report their test results by Tuesday will not be admitted to school.
DC is REQUIRING the tests. This is the press release from the Mayor.

Glad APS is not doing this. People should only be testing if they have actual symptoms. Antigen tests aren’t accurate for non-symptomatic people.
Regardless, are they testing every child who goes into a bar or restaurant? No.
More discrimination against kids to appease the teachers union and a few extremist COVIDian parents.
BS. I am not an extremist and I wish everyone would be tested. You're the extremist, not us. I wish you would get your childcare together so your kid wouldn't be in school to negatively impact my kid. Everyone else, I'm fine with. People like you who are ignoring the nose on your face ... get outta here.
PP is mentally ill. Just ignore.
Everyone will be repeatedly exposed to COVID the rest of their lives. It will be here forever. Are you going to demand this for this flu too? Cold viruses (which actually has the same symptoms as Omnicrom - you’re demanding this nuttiness for a cold)?
Forcing this down kids’ throats at schools, while adults operate freely elsewhere, is demented. It is the government simply adopting the germaphobic rituals of a vocal neurotic minority and only implementing it against children. History will not look kindly on this
Now you have a problem with a shallow nasal swab? Are you the same person who said eating lunch outside is child abuse? GMAFB.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Is Arlington doing testing it not? Is this something I am going to need to take time off of work for? Arlington can you please please give parents a heads up re wtf is going on, even if it’s just to say that Monday kids will return to school as normal and there will be other announcements re what to do if you’ve had covid or been in contact with someone who did? Just give us the bare minimum of the plan please, it’s Wednesday already.
I think it is safe to say APS won't be requiring testing ( either is ACPS or Fairfax). They have been tweeting out the testing locations if people want to do it. I guess I am not sure what people are looking for. Except school to open and be business as usual on Monday. Why do we need a plan if nothing has changed.
They already said they are working with the VA dept of health re: the new CDC recs. They can only move as fast as VDH
