My son’s team was pretty terrible and beat that team handily according to the website. I don’t remember this guy or his kid at all though.


They got rid of D3 for every grade except 8th grade boys for whatever reason this year.

Also no 5th grade pool play this season so that whole age group is going to be unbalanced all season. I don’t know why they would get rid of pool play, the system worked well.

No, Tom ball is the McLean B team coach. He doesn’t seem to be involved in the A team at all.

This guy coached two years ago in FCYBL, for a Division Three Herndon 5th grade team. (Did they get rid of division 3 for 5th grade??)

The head coach for Nova 94 Feet-AAU, last name B____. Is the same person who is the new assistant coach for McLean Select A team. This guy also apparently was the head coach for CYA AAU team last spring/summer. He has a bunch of social media accounts.

I don't know anything about how McLean basketball works, but it sounds like some of the "A" players from last season were cut from the "A" team to make room for some of the new coach's AAU players. And the roster being smaller than last season--last year's A team players probably moved down to the B team. Which meant many of last year's B team kids lost their spots, most likely, since FCYBL said no league could have three teams this season.

Silver lining is the McLean B team will probably be much stronger than the other D2 teams...


My son plays on a team that has played the McLean B team several times over the past few years. What's strange is that the B team this year seems substantially weaker than the B team last year. So that makes no sense.

How do you know? Have you scrimmaged them? The season hasn't started yet... ?

Maybe the Mclean A team kids who were cut got spots on the other team they could try out for in their zip code. Whatever that team is (Great Falls? Arlington? I have no idea)
