Chloe is one of my favorite names, but there are a lot of dogs named Chloe these days (and a lot named Zoe too). If you don't believe me, check out the name board at your nearest dog grooming place.

Have you ever noticed that on DCUM negative views of a name are often expressed as either "it's a stripper name" or "it's a churchlady name"? Hmmm . . .

And -- on that note -- I like Angela -- probably more than Angelina. In my professional world, Angela could be a Deputy US Attorney who grew up in Queens, went to Columbia, has masses of gorgeous long dark hair and wears hoops every day. She is known for speaking truth to power. Or, Angela could be the very poised and self-possessed General Counsel of an art auction house who grew up in Spokane, went to Stanford, has bright red hair cut in a pixie and wears impeccably tailored neutrals. She is known for quietly and deftly cutting to the core of any problem.

Linnea is one of my all-time favorite names, both for the sound of it, and for the connections to botany and Scandinavia. Way less frilly than Angelina.

No to Eleanor. Too many Ellies Ellas. Everyone will think Angelina Jolie so for that reason no to that name. Harriet is too old, vivian also too trendy. The others are ok. I like Zoe (no y) the best.

(OP here) I agree with you about Vivian but I feel like Angelina Jolie's popularity is wavering enough that people wouldn't notice every time they hear her name. The first time I heard it I thought Angelina Ballerina.

Me too! I think it's a sweet name and I love Lina as her NN. My other faves are Celia and Harriet/Hattie. Just be aware that Celia and Vivian have been on the rise for a while (quite a few among the HS and college students whom I know). Hattie also seems to be taking off. Zoe and Eleanor (especially Eleanor) are pretty common at this point too.

Angelina is such a beautiful name, I met the prettiest girl named Angelina and it fit her so well. The name gave her French heritage and boujee vibe a real cool look. It is not no basic ass name like sarah so for all the people saying that what is wrong with yall. Angelina is hands down one of the best baby girl names if you want your daughter to grow up in the spotlight. I can't wait to name my baby to be Angelina or lina/lena for short.

From your list, I like Angelina/Lina the best. And you can buy her the Angelina Ballerina books.

People need to stop thinking of names from their parent perspectives. No one her age is going to know or care who Angelina Jolie is.

I love it. People may associate it with Jolie; you need to decide if that's a dealbreaker.

I love all versions of Angela. First reference is to Angie By The Rolling Stones, one of the best rock love ballads of all time.

I also know a little Alina. Very cute name too. I prefer Faith for a middle name if you are religious. Zoe seems better as a first name to me.
