Yes, this was common in MoCo last year.
yeah, I don't think Penn State even has the hold on central PA that it once had. It is definitely harder to get into Maryland than into Penn State. Also, Penn State continues to have a big problem with having very little diversity.

Every big university has had its fair share of problems. What's your agenda here?
Agenda? Are you always this awful? Institutional coverup of childhood rape is not a "fair share of problems."
So you're going to write off the entire school because of one horrible mistake? It wasn't the entirety of Penn State that committed the atrocity. I'm very sorry if you or someone you love was impacted by this, but it's not a reason to imply that no one should choose PSU over Maryland, which has had its own problems. Same for Michigan. And UVa. And Dartmouth. Etc...
ONE HORRIBLE MISTAKE? That place was rotten to the core. It included and enveloped the entire administration. Nope, would never send my kids there. If you think they are magically reformed, you are really naive.
You're entitled to your opinion and your choice of how to spend your money. There are tens of thousands of students there in any given year who would tell you they're having a great experience.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:PSU would not be allowed. How they handled the Jerry Sandusky/football scandal reflects the moral fiber of the University. This was not that long ago. I could not in good conscious send my kid there and truly feel that DC was in a supportive, safe environment.
oh please.
Eh, she’s not wrong. And there seem to be a steady stream of hazing deaths there as well.

Could you give a little more detail about how it is “much happier”? DS is considering both.
