I'm a grad in the DMV area - I'm C-level and I'd def look to help out a young flyer. I've come across a few over the years but it's not super common here tbh. But unless an applicant has gone to a super-uber school (admit I still notice this) I am not looking at their skills, not if they went to a VA-known school. In other words, it wont help here for the first job through a strong alumni network but it wont matter long term. Most UD grads are successful beyond what you might expect. Something about the personalities it attracts.

You have to click on each city's chapter to see the number of alumni in a particular city. Outside of the cities in Ohio, I believe Chicago and the New York city area are the only metro areas that have more alumni than DC/Baltimore.

There is no bus service to/from DC that I am aware of.
The flight prices aren't terrible. I typically pay $2-300 round trip for a non stop from Dayton to DCA. At Thanksgiving it's a bit more, but that's true of all flight prices during that time.
