This. If you aren’t aware that Saints, Visi and Stone Ridge are in a different conference than Good Counsel, you probably don’t have much value to add here.

It sounds like the new coach on 35th Street is trying to lower expectations for a tough season. SR actually graduated 5 all-American caliber players last year, not 2. So they will need to rebuild a bit as well. Saints has incredible depth and always good coaching. GC is playing in the Baltimore winter league so they should be well-prepared. It should be an interesting season. Btw I do notice that the Visi Cubs have a 3-0 record on Tourney Machine for STJ so maybe they are better than advertised?

All you can tell from indoor is stick and chemistry. Full field will be a better gauge of are they or aren't they athletes. Stone Ridge has the horses left from last year's graduation and the rest of the WCAC and ISL teams will be chasing them.

Agree with PP. Indoor leagues and Fall Brawl may provide some insights into which teams have the potential to be good this coming Spring season, but they should not be used to crown the best for the Spring season. Draw wins generally have the biggest impact on games. This is missing during the winter. Circle play, speed and athleticism are much more critical in the spring. Winning draws increases possession time and chances, which generally means more shots and goals, and helps protect teams with weaker defenses and goalies. The winter games do help shed light on which teams may be good, but with so many different variables involved from teams not playing, teams missing players, and the rules being so different it seems hard to be able to say who the best will be come Spring season.

Indoor scores are so misleading, are teams using split squads? Are they playing everyone equal? Are they moving kids to new spots? Are they testing out new moves plays?

Indoor may not be a great proxy for full field but if it’s any indication at all there are some big shifts coming. PVI, Bullis, St Johns and others are not looking strong even with their D1 committs playing indoor.

Why do you say BI will be better? They don’t have much as way of senior class and jr class is equally think but most importantly Rick Sofield is no longer head coach and his replacement is a problem.
