look lady, if you want the city to trust you’re educating your kids, you need to get it together and file the homeschool paperwork. if you cannot mange that, the city has every reason to believe you are educationally neglecting your kids.

for people to keep their kids home without virtual school in the first place seems to require at least some check on the part of CPS. is that group saying that they should just be able to check a box somewhere and CPS won't come and check to see if they are actually educating their kids? seriously?

so you either burden CPS and your school or you say 'no oversight!' and have kids falling off the map.

I legitimately don't care if people homeschool. Homeschooling actually requires work, and alerting the government that you've got a plan, etc. Homeschoolers may not do educational well (my understanding is that this varies widely), but at least they've got some intention to do something.

Yes, homeschool might also be a mask for educational neglect or child abuse. But at least there is some initial measure of oversight there.

+1 She professes to care about low income children, but she truly only cares about her own. She and her husband have the ability to educate their kids.Kids whose parents are barely educated themselves and lack resources will gravely suffer.

Pumpkin mom has singlehandedly created so much many toxic situations. Yes I am personally acquainted with her. She is completely blind to her own biases and always will be.

once upon a time, a homeschool application was the way that parents could provide some small measure that SOMETHING educational was happening for their kids.

now they don't even need to provide that.

how can you confirm that a parent is providing an education to their child when the child never attends virtual school or in-person school?

It would be good if the Council could have created some structure for this, versus again burdening schools.

Seriously, for an entity that professes to want to make schools better, they sure do like making them stretched thin.
