+1 These answer surprise me, too. If you’re doing a big, messy, multi-day/month job, have them order a portapotty. Otherwise, for a small project, they should absolutely be able to use your facilities. You people are awful.

It's really surprising. I bet everyone posting is also a super liberal who is always pushing for things like a living wage too, so long as those folks earning a living wage don't dare look the homeowner in the eye.

I'm severely immunosuppressed (blood and bone marrow cancer.) I did not go to any high-volume places (ie, grocery store) and wore a mask everywhere I went BEFORE COVID. You should not have contractors in a house with anyone actually immunosuppressed but if just immunocompromised should be okay. I would decide on a bathroom for the workers to use that none one else in your house will use until the work is finished done. Also, put up a sign to only flush the toilet with the seat down. Honestly, I'm kind of surprised the doc of someone so at risk, you don't want people using your bathroom hasn't already advised you on this. I have an aide and she uses the second bathroom that I never use. The door is always shut, the toilet is only flushed when the seat is down. Pretty basic stuff that was protocol pre-covid for at-risk people. The last time I got a cold (this was pre-covid) I ended up in the ICU and almost died. I guess it depends on what you mean by immunocompromised... noticed people use a very loose definition of this since COVID times emerged. Be safe.

Do I "let them"? Ummm... I want them to work in my house, so I actually show them where the bathroom is! I own Lysol wipes, so I can wipe it down when they have finished their work. They have to go somewhere!

This is not the question. Unless you are crazy of course you allow this. The question is would you allow a contractor to use your bathroom in a home where there are unvaccinated and/or vulnerable adults and children?

Well if they leave it in the street they are disgusting and the homeowner made the right choice.

It’s unprofessional to ask to use the bathroom at a private home. Go on your way or go after. You should be able to map out public bathrooms in your work area. Just like if I was out for a walk I wouldn’t stop and ask a neighbor if I could use their bathroom- I would go to Starbucks, etc.

Get a Portopotty or plan for them to cut corners at the end of the day or before breaks.
