They have done a lot of research and spoken to a lot of advisors (advantage to being in college). Turns out TicTok is a fairly important place to release music. Spotify is the most important. YouTube is second, then Apple and TicTok are about equal. None pay well for music generating smaller numbers (less than a million listens), but you can then use those numbers to get bookings and set live show fees. So - TicTok will apparently be a bigger thing as more original music appears.
But those wouldn't be the most important platforms if people stopped using them. I mean, it used to be Myspace for bands.
