DP with children in daycare...actually, I see a LOT of anti-daycare sentiment on these boards. You know, the people who think that you shouldn't have a child unless you can either SAH or afford a nanny.
And, no, I don't think daycare is perfect. But my children have both thrived at our daycare, so we've been happy with our choice.

Another DP and I agree that there is definitely anti-daycare and anti-nanny sentiment from SAHP and weird posters who don’t even have kids! But there is also no room for debate or questioning daycare among those of us with kids in daycare. It’s as if there is no room for improvement and no possible downside especially now when we truly do not know if masks will effect bonding and development (no one know that). Yes, I am generally very happy with our daycare but that doesn’t mean I wish they wouldn’t let my four-year-sleep so long or lose his clothes (both topics I was attacked for even mentioning on this forum). I wish there wasn’t such a turn over in staff. I wish there was a subsidy to pay the teachers more. I wish the teachers had the time to hold my baby more.

I don’t have a problem praising our daycare for the great job they do but I don’t want to get shut down and called a loser for being worried about my baby’s caregivers being masked.

My son's infant teachers still hold, cuddle and touch the babies like always. Thank goodness. Covid is not a huge threat to them but lack of touch is horrible for them.

It might be that the teachers who hug are both vaccinated and had covid already, so they are not worried about getting covid from your kid and bringing it to their family. I can tell you that 99% of teachers are very nervous and only come into physical contact when absolutely necessary, even if they are vaccinated many are over 50 and have vulnerable family, and I support them totally for trying to keep everyone safe. Didnt you notice lack of school bus drivers and cafeteria workers, and school staff in general? No one even want to work in schools, and more so in infants room anymore, they can make more delivering for Amazon and having almost no contact. So please appreciate your daycare workers, teachers. No one appreciated them before the pandemic and they are the lowest paid workers in America even now.

I understand your concern, I have a 7 month old and we spent most of the summer outside of DC where no one is masking. Even before we left DC, mask rules had been lifted. I have noticed since coming back that he looks blankly at masked faces and actually seems afraid and begins to cry when people in masks on the street try to talk to him. LOL this will probably get deleted because the moderator allows absolutely zero discussion about any potential downside to masking children or even peer reviewed scientific literature about masks and kids. THAT BEING SAID, I think your baby will be fine. The reality is we don't really know how kids will be impacted in the long term by all of this, but I don't think you should let it worry you. So I guess I am saying I see your concern and share it with my own baby who has acted very different socially upon returning to a masked area. But I also think you should just try to let it go and not worry. There is nothing you can do.

They are acting like young children do 't get cuddles at daycare which is not consistent with public health guidance and is not typical practice

Not hugging toddlers/cuddling infants is bonkers, the daycare has gone off the rails and is not following public health guidance which accounts for impacts on children's development .
