I did hear someone today say they were particularly affected by the murder of Charlie Kirk because it was livestreamed and many people have now seen the graphic, gory footage. Perhaps that's the answer - people who've been behaving in insensitive ways should be exposed to the graphic, gory details of all of the other victims and maybe then they will wake up.
