I've asked around, and it seems there are good players doing both AS and AA. I'm not sure what's fact or rumor at this point, but from what I gather, AA will probably have a higher number of good or very good players, which could lead to a more competitive team and attract more interest from college coaches. Each option carries different risks and opportunities for players. On one hand, AA might offer the greatest reward due to the likely higher concentration of talent, but there's also the risk of not making the team and ending up with nothing. On the other hand, the AS team likely won't be as good or interesting, but AS is still the biggest brand and is probably an easier team to make this year compared to prior years, which could provide opportunities for players who might have been shut out previously. In the end, it may not matter much—everyone will probably be tired of lacrosse by then and just wish they could take the weekend off.

This post is spot on but I would just add that a number of families were reached out to for a specific tryout. If you got contacted I think you know the answer where the quality players are going. Just trying to show that I am not pushing one over the other.

Well we should know the answer now, correct? Did the "top" players all band together and not show up for AS tryouts yesterday?

That won’t tell you the answer. Some may have hedged, and gone to AS as well, even if they intend to do AA. That’s an expensive hedge. Bigger question than the funding, is risking the ire of Capital.

Are you suggesting that some players paid for both registrations just to see who actually showed up at AS? If a player preferred only one event, they would have registered for just that one. Conversely, someone open to either would have signed up for AS first and AA later only if they didn't make AS. Registering for both is weird to me.

I think they are implying that some people are so terrified of picking the wrong event this year that they tried out for AS and will accept if they make it and then ALSO go to AA if the better players are there and if they make it also accept AA and eat the cost of AS
