I know this was filmed months prior, but it was also hard for me watch Canada portrayed as this wonderful place and far superior, you know America’s saviour, when as these episodes were airing, we were uncovering the atrocities of what happened in Canada to First Nations people. I couldn’t even bring myself to sing the national anthem for the hockey game last night and watching Canada portrayed as this wonderful country made me want to throw up. I know it’s apples to oranges and perhaps Americans won’t understand, but there is a lot of national shame right now about the genocide at residential schools, and for me this season was disappointing because of the writing and also because I’m not happy with Canada right now.
Why would you torture yourself with what likely dead people did long ago to other likely dead people. Live your life. Let the dead bury their dead.
Yes - this. There's no life left in these stories. Or if there is, it's not enough to sustain all these long drawn out episodes.
You know, it's ok to loathe these people. There's so much life in you, and so much emotional larceny in these others.

Not true imo. There was a scene of her cuddling Nichole in the nursery, and of she and Luke playing with her outside. I think she can connect with mothering, and even intermittently with Luke, but is obviously damaged from profound trauma and the rage it engendered. I think Luke still doesn't grasp a fraction of what she went through and he needs to hear every nasty grisly detail to get a sense of why she is the way she is right now.
She seems to like Nick a lot better than she likes Luke.
Also, I didn't mind the gang beating of Fred, but I kind of wished they had used stones.
Nick knows what she's been through. Luke has no clue. I can't see how she and Luke will ever be able to connect again. I don't know if June will every be capable of having a healthy longterm relationship again, but she's have a better chance with Nick.
I don't know if he is a terrible actor, the script is weak, or it is intentional on the writer's part that he have almost no depth, but this has been so, so apparent from season 1. He makes a few moves to get June back, but he is generally SUPER weak and clearly thinks her experience is like, the equivalent of a bad week at work.

Stupid.
I don’t know. Serena is in her last few minutes of being blissfully unaware of what has transpired, and thinks that she is still in a position to force Tuello (sp?) to call Fred “Commander” and make people do her bidding. Knowing what she is about to find out is pretty satisfying to me.
On the other hand, I found the scene in the woods to be really unrealistic. Fred had ample opportunity to overpower June and get the gun, and ample time to continue running. June wanted a scenario where he was in maximum fear for his life, but that means running and overpowering a woman with a gun when you have the chance.
I don’t understand why this is so hard for people to grasp. Gilead wants two things - power and kids. They are NOT going to give up any kids willingly - period. Hannah is young and may be fertile; she is an asset. The women they traded Waterford for are infertile and spies; they are liabilities.Anonymous wrote:When they provided the long list of people Gilead would trade for Fred, I could not believe that Hanna wasn't one of them.
