Another Prep 2019 makes an early verbal to Dartmouth.

Preps 2020 and 2019 classes are absolutely loaded.

I don't see much coming out of Wilson lane, Gonzaga, or that public school you pay for in Potomac.

Some definitely wouldn't for the reasons you articulated, but others will. Some of those kids will be BW kids who want to Trig as their HS coach as well. Some will opt for STJ because they will see the field sooner.

And - gasp - some will pick STJ because, despite what you wrote, they actually like that school best.


Also, St. John's is really inexpensive for a private school in this area -- very much so compared to Prep, and significantly less expensive even than Gonzaga. Money's not always an object, of course, but I think the cost of Prep has really made a difference the past decade.

Trig will attract a lot of Catholic kids who might have gone to Prep, Gonzaga, GC and even Dematha. So I think all non-Catholic IAC schools will benefit. My prediction is that the perenial IAC bottom of the heap Episcopal and STA both surpass in the IAC Prep within 2 years.

Bullis will be very down after a historic year for them. But Landon and SSSAS have much better rosters that Prep. Wouldn't shock me if EHS beat Prep. Even STA will have a decent team. Prep will be no higher than 3rd this coming year. Gonzaga will be better than everyone in the IAC except for maybe Landon.

Landon will win it all. Prep will likely have an even worse team this year than last year's squad.

Programs go in cycles.

Bullis and St. Stephens were very strong last year. Landon and Prep were down.

I suspect next year Landon and Prep will rebound.

Gonzaga seems to have lost a huge senior class.

Been hearing Paul VI could be quite strong.

Prep has a few really good players coming in. But overall, the talent on that team has dropped a ton. Their 2017 class, for example, is really bad.

It will be another mediocre year for the Rockville Pike mob.

I haven't of many kids at Landon or Gonzaga getting much attention from college programs.

The talent in the younger classes really has shifted towards Prep.



Seeing as how Gonzaga's freshman and JV teams both beat Prep last year I really don't know if that is the case. And if memory serves Gonzaga also had 14-15 underclassmen on their varsity roster last season. I thought Prep only had 7-8, no?
