Trump is claiming that the document shows that it was Milley who wanted to attack Iran, not Trump, but only a delusional Trump lackey would buy that.

This was obvious to be from the indictment, it was literally Milley’s job to prepare plans for any contingency the POTUS asked for. The fact that there were such plans means POTUS wanted the plans. Nice try there trying to blame Milley.

Didn’t Trump tell the person “don’t get too close?” If I wave my bank statement at you from across the room, you’ve seen nothing.

Obviously the content of the documents remains classified. So no one will confirm publicly that he did indeed have the plans he said he had, which would corroborate a charge of dissemination—which he isn’t facing and maybe that’s why.

Even if he didn’t let them read the document, he showed it to them, told them who wrote it and summarized what it was about, which is disclosing classified information. That’s not a gray area. It’s a blatant offense.

Yes, assuming the document actually exists. Which no one will confirm or deny outside of classified briefings. I think this is why they aren’t charging with dissemination because they don’t want to confirm or deny anything height have said to anyone. The man is a menace and deserves a long epsilon sentence. I’m just not sure we will get it and the public will buy in.

Kid Rock has admitted to seeing classified information. So it for sure has been dissiminated.

It really doesn't seem like it.

Since Nazis are already out protesting Disney and supporting DeSantis in Florida, I wonder if the Jan 6th Trumpers who haven't been caught yet will show up for yet another display of civil war tomorrow at the courthouse.

At this point I assume Trump could shoot one of his secret service detail in the middle of the street and get away with it.

He probably could. Many dictators have aspired and ascended to be that free from accountability. It’s not crazy to suggest it could happen here at all.

I’m sure the cia operatives and military personnel put at risk when classified military documents are disseminated agree that it‘s no biggie.

I mean I guess it's good he didn't wear a tan suit in the Oval Office.

Let's substitute Biden or Clinton in any of these indictments and see how the p*bes, I mean rubes react.

Also, that is not a Presidential Record and not something that Trump could or would be allowed to declassify.

technically, it has nothing to do with classifying or declassifying, section 793 doesn't say boo about classification. It's national defense material that could injure the United States.

(793) -3

(e) Whoever having unauthorized possession of, access to, or control over any document, writing, code book, signal book, sketch, photograph, photographic negative, blueprint, plan, map, model, instrument, appliance, or note relating to the national defense, or information relating to the national defense which information the possessor has reason to believe could be used to the injury of the United States or to the advantage of any foreign nation, willfully communicates, delivers, transmits or causes to be communicated, delivered, or transmitted, or attempts to communicate, deliver, transmit or cause to be communicated, delivered, or transmitted the same to any person not entitled to receive it, or willfully retains the same and fails to deliver it to the officer or employee of the United States entitled to receive it; or

Truly, the level of MAGA rationalization is at an all time high. I mean any and all excuses are coming out. Such sheep these people are.

Right now it’s too abstract for the average person who has no experience with national security to understand and accept. I imagine the intelligence agencies have been working overtime to manage the fallout.

I would rather not threaten national security by exposing information about our military plans, capabilities and intelligence gathering sources and methods just to satisfy people's curiosity.

Of course not, but maybe to save the republic? A second Trump term would be the end as far as I’m concerned.

You really think all the nutjobs on here claiming that Smith made up the tape of Trump admitting he didn't declassify the docs, that Trump had a right to take classified docs under the PRA, that Clinton did the same thing, etc. are suddenly going to be convinced if the feds just declassify these docs and show how bad they are? Please. They will just claim Smith is lying, planted them, or whatever. They are loony toons.

I think educating the American public about the good reasons we have laws protecting classified information seems necessary at this point in time. There seems to be a real lack of understanding among even normal non-nut-jobs.

The polls indicate the american people by and large get it. But releasing the docs would just give the RWNJs another talking point- if these are so sensitive, why did you just release them to the world?

Well, the were secret, until he stole them. You are raising a good point—but I don’t know how to educate people without giving examples of the damage this caused. Which I’m sure it did. For all we know, people have died.

The docs are described in the indictment. It's not really all that hard to understand why docs "concerning military contingency planning of the United States" or "concerning nuclear weaponry of the United States" would be important to keep secret.

Actually it is. Most voters don’t read books, you know? The need a picture.

The docs themselves are not likely to be pictures. They are likely dense text.
